Highway 130 Construction Up-Date

Dear MHRIA Members and Friends,

As a result of the recent dialogue between Mr. Jason Props and many of you in the backcountry, the county has revised their plans for full closure of Hwy 130. This road project is slated to replace a plastic drainage conduit with a metal one 5.8 miles past the Observatory and 12.3 miles from the Junction.  Below is the statement provided by Jason Props that will allow one-lane traffic during the project.

Regards, John Kuntzmann,

President, MHRIA

The County’s Contractor has agreed to modify their work plan to allow one lane of through traffic during the course of construction by means of one lane traffic control.

Please advise the residents of the following

  • Road Work from July 6ththrough July 16th from 7:00am until 5:00pm Mon-Fri.
  • Traffic may be momentarily delayed, however, emergency, vehicular and bicycle traffic will be allowed to pass thru the construction zone.

We apologize for any inconvenience and undue stress this has caused to a community who has already suffered so much in recent years.

If there is anything I or my department can do please do not hesitate to reach out to me, day or night.

Very respectfully,

Jason L. Props, C.P.I.I., QSP
