Update: Deadline to Seek Federal Disaster Assistance Extended

Due to the high demand for Individual Assistance (IA) support. FEMA has extended the deadline to register for assistance for those effected by the SCU Complex Fire to the date of December 11th 2020. If you have not already registered and are interested you may do so utilizing the following ways:

Go online to: www.disasterAssistance.gov

FEMA Disaster Assistance Helpline – Available seven days a week from 7:00 am – 1:00 am ET.  at 1-800-621-3362, TTY: 1-800-462-7585 (the FEMA helpline can also answer questions and support those who have already applied but may have further questions).

As of this morning, US EPA has completed Phase 1 household hazardous waste removal on 40 properties, which is 43% of the known list of properties with wildfire ash and debris.

I am happy to talk with any property owners who have questions or concerns about the process – what it involves, what it doesn’t, consequences for participating or refusing to participate, options for granting access, and whether you can receive advanced notification of a US EPA visit.  I will continue to make myself available outside of normal office hours and through the holiday week in case that’s when property owners have the time to call.  I can be reached at 408-592-7172.

Per usual any questions/concerns please feel free to reach out.

Respectfully,

Louay Toma CEM, MPA
